I placed third in the Olga Sinclair Prize with my short story ‘Giants’. This award is run by the Norwich Writers Circle and was on the theme of Nature this year. My story was inspired by a real-life trip hunting the mythical sasquatch and tracking down eco protestors camped in redwood trees I once did (I hasten to add that the dodgy exes, sexual indiscretions and gunshots in the story were entirely invented by me). ‘Giants’ will be published in the annual Olga Sinclair Prize anthology.
I’d like to invite you to come along to the next Story Radio reading event at the Colony Room Green on Monday the 11th of November. Our last one was a huge success with some brilliant writers sharing their work with us and you can listen to it on the podcast here. The new one will feature several writers including Lana Citron, Lindsay Gillespie, Martin Nathan and myself and we’ll be reading short stories on the theme of food and eating. I do hope you can come along.
